Background

As individuals some of us have been collecting data and providing tree and barn boxes for owls over a number of years. But we wanted to do more for these birds.

So we have decided to work on protecting the habitats of Barn Owls, particularly by way of stabilising some of the upland farm buildings where they nest. This would have the incidental benefits of preserving parts of the built heritage of Montgomeryshire. We have set up the Powys Species Habitat Protection Group to look at how we can carry out the work.

We think this approach may also benefit bat colonies.

Our Objectives

  • Preserving habitats
  • Increasing support for habitat preservation among the general public through educational work
  • Securing resources to support the work - volunteers, skills, materials and money
